As the bushfire torn regions of Victoria slowly recover, news from the other side of the world tell similar stories of devastation to the land recently in Greece and California.
It’s the first time I have been to the region since the raging Black Saturday fires in February. I spoke to a few locals who shared their first hand experiences. Having spent the day in the area, the shear enormity of the destruction really hit me, and I could only imagine what the residents must have felt during that awful week and also the slow recovery since.
The photo I took below really spoke to me of the struggle, unity and Aussie spirit, almost a last stance against the menacing inferno.
The other photographs hopefully show not only a glimpse of the awful devastation, but provide some hope and inspiration to everyone affected by the bushfires, that the cycle of life continues.

When Suzi asked me if I would photograph Ethan just before his 1st birthday, I was rapt ~ little Ethan is just the most adorable boy with some of the biggest cheeks and eyes I’ve ever seen!
Every time I’ve seen Ethan, he’s always been so well behaved and full of plenty of energy. Always smiling, he just loves the camera and when I arrived, he was bursting with energy.
Suzi & Rod, you’ve got a beautiful little bub and it was a pleasure photographing for you!

Cousins, Ava & Ryan are about 6 weeks apart and already have a wonderful bond.
I’m sure they will be very close throughout their lives. We spent some time outside letting them get up to mischief while I shot away. Ava wasn’t feeling the best and was a bit teary at times, and all poor Ryan wanted to do was play, but Ava just wasn’t up to it.
Thanks Tanya & Allan for a beautiful meal too, looking forward to catching up again!
